Treatment-Based Applications in Trauma and Crisis Counseling Settings
This presentation was my final project for graduate school, and it sparked a deep and continuing interest in neuro-based modalities for trauma recovery—especially Neurofeedback, Brainspotting, and others that target the brain-body connection.

As both a counselor and a birth professional, I’m especially drawn to the intersection of these approaches with my birth work. Many of my clients—whether coming to me for therapy, childbirth education, or doula services—carry trauma histories. Knowing what we now understand about how trauma is stored in the body, I believe strongly that unresolved trauma can significantly impact the birthing process, both physically and emotionally.
Exploring tools like Neurofeedback opens up new possibilities for helping individuals regulate their nervous systems, reclaim a sense of safety, and approach labor, delivery, and early parenting with greater confidence and resilience. My long-term vision is to integrate these approaches in a way that honors both clinical effectiveness and holistic, compassionate care.
If you’re a fellow clinician, birth professional, or researcher interested in the intersection of trauma, neuroscience, and perinatal care—I’d love to connect. I’m actively exploring ways to integrate neuro-based therapies like Neurofeedback and Brainspotting into both my counseling and birth work.
Let’s start a conversation. Whether you're doing similar work, curious about collaboration, or looking to learn more, feel free to reach out through my contact page or email me directly at kristin@walkinginhope.com.
Together, we can continue building bridges between trauma-informed care and the sacred work of supporting families.
